St Clare’s is a Gifted Education Lead School in the Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle. Our focus is on identifying gifted learners and assisting with the process of developing talent by providing specific opportunities for learning, training, and practice. We have high expectations for all students, with an increased focus on gifted learners and their needs.

The school’s gifted education mentors collate and analyse data, helping teachers identify the strengths and needs of gifted students and providing appropriate strategies for them. Gifted education is a priority in the system and is providing exciting opportunities.

St Clare’s uses the internationally recognised COGAT testing regime to identify gifted students and to work with them to extend their giftedness into a talent. The gifted education mentor can work with individual students and small groups to extend their skills and challenge them to be the best they can be.
